What Vintage Are You this Summer?

2 Jun

Making plans this summer includes not only those amazing outdoor activities we missed all winter, but planning out some new “what-to-wear” situations. What kind of vintage are you this summer?

The 80’s Boating Bombshell: You are classy, fabulous, and don’t give a damn as long as there is nothing stopping you on the way to the beach! This outfit puts you in command of the best boats at sea.

Luxury Lingerie: Kiki De Montparnasse

8 Feb

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’d like to add a little pleasure to your life. Kiki De Montparnasse is a self-proclaimed “…luxury fashion and lifestyle brand that celebrates intimacy and inspires the romantic imagination.” It may be best known for its lingerie, but carries everything from ‘instruments of pleasure’ to classic films and jewelry.

While there is an undeniably vintage feel- the use of garter belts, stays, rich silks and laces for example- there is also a modern edge that is as innovative as it is sexy.

Some of my favorite items include this lace garter tank…

…this stunning bow thong…

…and this beautiful silk romper, last seen on Blair Waldorf during an episode of Gossip Girl

The brand is certainly true to its statement, but more importantly it seems to hold true to the character of the woman it is named after: Kiki De Montparnasse, also known as Alice Prin. Born into poverty, she became a model, actress, socialite, painter and seductress, among other things. She was truly one of the first outspoken, liberated women who defined Paris in the early 1920s, and her influence is obviously still present.
